Topic: Book of Fixed Stars

 Fixed Star Certificate Course
The course is focused on Brady’s Book of Fixed Stars and the software Starlight developed by Brady and Sarah Ashton to fulfil the need for a software application that worked with the stars in the manner described in Brady's book.
If you want to understand the power of fixed stars then the best way is to simply book in for a fixed star reading from Bernadette.
The result of her work came to fruition with her book Brady's Book of Fixed Stars (Weisers, 1998) in which she presents a new - but very old - approach to working with the Fixed Stars.

While figuring paran relationships can be done with good computer software, such programs do not offer the rich history and revealing interpretations found in Brady's Book of Fixed Stars, and there is also something to be said for consulting charts and the nostalgia of old-fashioned, hands-on astrology.
TO UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF fixed stars and constellations in astrology, one must return to the dawn of time and the original role that stars played in human lives.
Most readers are aware of sun signs and the significance of zodiacal constellations, yet the importance of fixed stars, especially those outside the ecliptic (the plane through which the planets travel), is often overlooked in contemporary astrology.

The seventh book concludes with the catalogue of the stars of the northern hemisphere, in which are entered their longitudes, latitudes and magnitudes, arranged according to their constellations; and the eighth book commences with a similar catalogue of the stars in the constellations of the southern hemisphere.
In this period he finds 4267 lunations, 4573 restitutions of anomaly and 4612 tropical revolutions of the moon less 71t q.p.; this quantity (72) is also wanting to complete the 345 revolutions which the sun makes in the same time with respect to the fixed stars.
Book iv., in which Ptolemy follows Hipparchus, treats of the first and principal inequality of the moon, which quite corresponds to the inequality of the sun treated of in the third book.

 Ian Ridpath’s Star Tales
Abd al-Rahman al-Sufi (903–86), known also by his Latinized name of Azophi, was an Arabic astronomer who produced a revised and updated version of Ptolemy’s Almagest called the Book of the Fixed Stars (in Arabic, Kitab suwar al-kawakib) around AD 964.
Al-Sufi ( AD 903–86), one of the greatest Arabic astronomers (also known by the Latinized name of Azophi), produced his own version of the Almagest called the Book of the Fixed Stars in which he introduced many star names.
As well as a translation of Ptolemy’s catalogue, this book contained a listing of the Arabs’ own star names, magnitudes determined by al-Sufi himself, and two drawings of each constellation, one as it is seen in the sky and one reversed right to left as it would appear on a celestial globe.

The Galileo Project Science Copernican System
In Copernican astronomy one now had to assume that the orbit of the Earth was as a point with respect to the fixed stars, and because the fixed stars did not reflect the Earth's annual motion by showing an annual parallax, the sphere of the fixed stars had to be immense.
But in the first book, Copernicus stated that the Sun was the center of the universe and that the Earth had a triple motion[1] around this center.
In this system the elegance and harmony of the Copernican system were married to the solidity of a central and stable Earth so that Aristotelian physics could be maintained.

Before the The Book of the Dun Cow eventually takes his pain to herself, Chauntecleer goes through the course of grief: asking why it happened and why he is cut off from his children, becoming resigned; and finally stating simply what he really wants--e.g., his sons.
Since the Dog did not see the The Book of the Dun Cow, we assume that the messenger is visible only to the leader, and that the effectiveness of speech and songs of the previous chapter are made possible through the medium of the The Book of the Dun Cow.

Adventures in CyberSound: Ptolemaeus - Claudius (Ptolemy)
Although Ptolemy realized that the planets were much closer to the Earth than the "fixed" stars, he seems to have believed in the physical existence of crystalline spheres, to which the heavenly bodies were said to be attached.
Ptolemy argued that since all bodies fall to the centre of the universe, the Earth must be fixed there at the centre, otherwise falling objects would not be seen to drop toward the centre of the Earth.
Ptolemy also prepared a calendar that gave, in addition to weather indications, the risings and settings of the stars in the morning and evening twilight.

 JAS: The Constellations
The Suwaru'l-Kawakib or the Book of Fixed Stars was written for and dedicated to the Buwayhid ruler Azudu'd-Dawla, (949-982 A.D.) who was a great patron of Astronomy and had erected an observatory at Shiraz.
As-Sufi has not only corrected errors of observations in the work of his predecessors like al-Battani, but exposed many of the faulty observations found in the garbled versions of Ptolemy's Almagest, carefully defined the boundaries of each Constellation and recorded magnitudes and positions of stars by a fresh and independent observation of his own.
Older astronomers like al-Biruni, Alfonso X, Prince of Castile, Khwaja Nasiru'd-Din Tusi, Prince Ulugh Beg and Jai Singh II based their astronomical Tables for the cataloguing of Constellations on this authentic Catalogue of Stars, Modern scientists and experts like Pocock Steinschneider, Hauber, Dorn, Argelander, Ideler, Schjellerup and Knobel have utilized it extensively.
