DOSBox - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
DOSBox is a full CPU emulator, not just a compatibility layer like dosemu or the VDMs of Windows and OS/2, which rely on virtualization capabilities of the Intel 80386 family processors.
DOSBox is an emulator which creates a DOS-like environment intended for running MS-DOS-based PC computer games which may not run properly on newer PCs.
As with most programs that emulate systems, DOSBox requires substantially more computing (particularly processor) power than the original systems, greatly affected by what software the user is running in the emulated system at the time.

 3-Lib
This paper describes a technique using DOSBox, a freely available DOS emulator, which can host the SIBO emulator so that the remaining facilities of XP or Windows 2000 are simultaneously available.
Start the DOSBox by clicking on dosbox.exe in C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.63 (or a shortcut) and provided you have customised the file dosbox.conf the SIBO emulator will start up automatically (be patient the DOSBox has to boot up and then the SIBO emulator will go through its own boot up routines).
Customising the keyboard is carried out once the DOSBox is working, so if you have not used the supplied mapper.txt wait until the DOSBox has been started (it does not matter if the SIBO emulator is running or not).

It is still an unstable program in an alpha state, and because it emulates the processor commands instead of virtualizing (like Virtual PC does on Intel platform), the performance hit is enormous and you won't get a playable framerate out of anything remotely worth playing.
However, development is going steady on it as it's based off of the main DOSBox opensource project which enjoys a lot of community support.
