Topic: Digital video

CCSR - Multimedia and DSP Research Group - Current Projects - Video
Moreover, video transcoding is a straightforward algorithm with extremely less computational complexity and lower processing delay.
Video transcoding embraces the optimal solution of linking different multimedia networks to each other.
However, few or more network links, to which individual users are connected, might not be able to support any of the high performance video streams due to congestion reasons or network constraints, so that an interface between two ends is needed for an achievable throughput.

Patent 6084631: High-speed digital video serial link
The digital video data and CRC are combined at the header encoder 214 to generate data packets as shown in Table 2 above.
The digital video data can be used by the main processor to generate a response based on the content of the video data.
The digital video signal is received at FPGA controller 200 where the CRC generator 212 generates the CRC bytes of the data packet as shown above in Table 2.

Telecommunications Training - Digital Transmission Video Course
In actual usage, the computers already use digital information, and only the voice and video need to be digitized.
Digital - Digital signals are representations of information in a binary format (or other numbering system).
The course is divided into five parts that take you from the basic concepts of the digital network through to the customer interface and use of the network.

 VESA Definition / VESA Research
Digital Packet Video LinkDigital Packet Video Link is a new video standard from VESA.
The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) is an international body that has issued a number of standards, mostly relating to the functioning of video peripheralsA peripheral is a type of computer hardware that is added to a host computer, in order to expand its abilities.
VESA Local BusThe VESA Local Bus is a local bus defined by the Video Electronics Standards Association, mostly used in personal computers based on the Intel 80486 CPU.

 Privateline.com: Packet and circuit switching
In earlier networks, whether analog or digital, each call creates a circuit that reserves a channel between two parties for the entire session.
Packet Video is promising video clips at 60Kbs over conventional circuit switched cellular radio channels, indeed, they say they are platform independent, that is, their technology will work over whatever radio technology a carrier is using.
John Quain notes in the October,2000 Computer Shopper that GTE is partners with Dialpad.com (external link), a net based service allowing computer to landline telephone calls, while ATandT owns 30 percent of Net2Phone (external link), which permits free computer to computer calls.

 Digital Video
Although was not developed specifically for digital cameras it was designed with applications like video in mind.
The major issue in digital video is the disk space it takes up, and the corollary issues of transmission, throughput and display.
The digital information is converted back to analog by a DAC to be viewed on a monitor.

Video and Audio: Organization and Retrieval in the WWW
For example, for a video clip encoded in the MPEG format[8], the encoding scheme is MPEG, and the encoding parameters include the frame rate, bit rate, encoding pattern, and picture size.
Hyperlinks in video streams have been proposed and implemented in the Hyper-G distributed information system[2] [13], as well as in a World Wide Web context in Vosaic.
The entire production, digitization and editing process for creating video content is complex.

RFC 1453 (rfc1453) - A Comment on Packet Video Remote Conferencing and the
[CHIM92] Chimiak, W., "The Digital Radiology Environment", IEEE JSAC, Vol.
At the Second Packet Video Workshop, held December, 1992, at MCNC in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, a recurrent theme was the use of multimedia in remote conferencing.
In an effort to anticipate the high bandwidth-delay data link layer, Delta-t [Delta-t], NETBLT [RFC 988], and VMTP [RFC 1045] were developed.

My-ESM - Display makers propose successor to Digital Visual Interface spec
Called the Digital Packet Video Link, the new format would use a packet data approach to transmit a variety of multimedia and high-resolution protocols to flat-panel screens.
Johji Mamiya, IBM Japan's advanced project staff engineer, said the Digital PV Link will be offered to several industry standards groups, including the DVI consortium, which will be asked to work the proposal into a future DVI 2.0 standard.
Mamiya said Digital PV Link would greatly improve the performance of integrated-graphics chipsets using a Unified Memory Architecture.

Develop Display & Great Product Reviews
Compares various methods of digital scaling and deinterlacing. An essential read for technology developers, systems integrators and video graphics interface engineers, "Digital Image Display" will also appeal to researchers and postgraduate students working in image processing and display.
"Digital Image Display" provides an extensive description of the main algorithms involved in preparing digital images for display and presents practical guidance on the development of new image display applications.
By describing the IP algorithms required to adapt an arbitrary image source to an arbitrary display type, this unique reference provides the means to understand and evaluate image delivery formats.

Digital Video Forums - "DVD Shrink v3.0 beta 5" bug reports
Here comes the feature request part: in addition to fixing this so that the 3.0 version first *starts* the video preview window in 16:9, it would be great if there was a way to lock it to 16:9 so if you enlarged the window, you still kept the correct aspect ratio.
Also, it would be nice if one could deselect entire video titles instead of just the audio stream that is associated with it.
This is not an issue if your friend's disc is not a commercial, copy protected one, as in "wedding video" or "a mate's band gig" for examples.

 PCWorld.com - Risk Your PC's Health for a Song?
Not only did we get bombarded with unwanted ads, but one of the ad windows in a video file tried to install adware onto our test PC surreptitiously, while another added items to our browser's Favorites list and attempted to change our home page.
Marc Morgenstern, Loudeye vice president and general manager of digital media asset protection, says the files we found come from a different division of the company--one that targets users with promotions or ads based on the keywords those users search for on P-to-P networks or in other venues.
The media files appear to run once the ads load, but they were devoid of video or music.

A number of digital video programs can be transmitted in the bandwidth of a single analog TV channel.
The access networks which deliver the MPEG2 signal to the home are either partially new technology (i.e., quadrature amplitude modulation [QAM] modulation over HFC networks) or completely new technology (i.e., switched digital video [SDV] networks).
Digital video will be transported over both traditional core telecom networks and a variety of emerging residential-access networks.

Network Computing Feature Digital Convergence Picture Perfect Video Page 1 July 9, 2001
Cable providers are selling digital video to compete with satellite providers, which have been promising better video and audio to consumers.
Using a DVD as our input source, we subjected the encoded video stream to latency, packet loss and reordered packets, and graded the units based on the quality of video we received on the decode side; all the units gave the same visual quality at the encode end.
Because video quality is subjective and MPEG is a standard, we opted to simulate the worst network and see how well the boxes handled it.
