Home Ethernet Network for your Macintosh
Your two computers are now networked and you can use all the files and programs on both computers from either computer.
I have Mac OS 8.1 on all of my computers so the files and file names are for 8.1.
If the first time, reboot both computers, this may not be necessary on every computer, but it minimizes the chances of problems.

Most Ethernet-connected computers therefore must continually filter out information that is not intended for them.

10G Ethernet set to star at N+I
The workgroup is part of a grid computing project, which involves the linking of processors and storage over high-speed WAN links to create a supercomputer-scale cluster of shared disk space and CPUs.
Part of the complexity of completing the 10G Ethernet standard was in the complexity of the optical interfaces, Fishburn says.
Also on hand will be a prototype 10G Ethernet network interface card (NIC) from Intel, running in a Hewlett-Packard 9000 Unix server.

 Ethernet
The bus is formed from a 50 Ohm co-axial cable which connects all the computers in the LAN.
Ethernet uses a simple Carrier-Sense Multiple Access protocol with Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) to prevent two computers trying to transmit at the same time (or more correctly to ensure both computers retransmit any frames which are corrupted by simultaneous transmission).

 Fast Ethernet Network Layout
In the twenty years since Ethernet was developed, PC processing power has increased exponentially and the size of software applications and data files have dramatically increased.
The high-speed backbone prevents bottlenecks that can arise as multiple users access data from a common file server.
An incremental approach such as migrating a backbone or high-performance segment prior to migrating an entire network may be a more cost-effective strategy for most users.

In this article, we will take a very close look at networking, and in particular the Ethernet networking standard, so you can understand the actual mechanics of how all of these computers connect to one another.
Coworkers thousands of miles apart can share information instantaneously, just as hundreds of workers in a single location can simultaneously review research data maintained online.
The global computer network known as the World Wide Web provides services that let consumers buy books, clothes, and even cars online, or auction those same items off when no longer wanted.

HP Brings Cheaper Gigabit Ethernet to Network's Edge
The 24- and 48-port switches provide similar software to HP's ProCurve 2600 series of 100M-bps Ethernet switches, and are priced at $100 per port.

Extensions to Local Network Modules other than Ethernet
Because there are 28 significant bits in an IP host group address, more than one host group address may map to the same Ethernet multicast address.
An IP host group address is mapped to an Ethernet multicast address by placing the low-order 23-bits of the IP address into the low-order 23 bits of the Ethernet multicast address 01-00-5E-00-00-00 (hex).
