 [No title]
KiXtart 95 is a logon script processor and/or enhanced batch language for Windows NT and Windows 95 workstations in a Windows Networking environment.
Although KiXtart is provided strictly on an 'AS IS' basis, and no official support for it is available from Microsoft, any feedback on the program is welcome, and suggestions or problems will be investigated and considered for a future version of KiXtart.
KiXtart 95 was designed and developed by Ruud van Velsen of Microsoft Benelux.

KiXtart is a logon script processor and enhanced batch scripting language for computers running Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT or Windows 9x in a Windows Networking environment.
KiXtart was developed on Windows XP using Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Visual C 6.0 SP5, Microsoft Assembler 6.1 and the Windows 32bit Software Development Kit.

Configure IT Quick: Customize logon scripts with KiXtart 2001
KiXtart’s scripting language lets you perform tasks including display information, set environment variables, start programs, connect to network drives, read or edit the Registry, and change the current drive and directory.
KiXtart has traditionally been distributed as freeware, which means that the software can be copied, installed, and evaluated free of royalties, as long as you abide by certain conditions, including that you may not distribute KiXtart for profit.
That way, you could make sure the drives the user needs are mapped, the user’s startup drive is correct, and Registry is configured the way it should be.

 KiXtart Frequently Asked Questions
KiXtart is due to the efforts of Ruud Van Velsen of Microsoft Benelux, and is in no way officially supported by Microsoft.
Another option (on Windows 95 only, as far as I know) is to use KiXtart to query the value of the registry (shown below).
For the most part, moving the KiXtart executable to the local machine will eliminate this problem.

CompTrends interview with Ruud van Velsen - KiXtart Developer
Description: The description for Event ID (1312) in Source (KIXTART) cannot be found, The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
KiXtart tries to retrieve some of the user info for the current user, and of course fails.
We hope this interview will help the user community better understand the product, its features and its background/future.

Finally, we discuss KiXtart functions and other methods for logging off, locking, shutting down, and placing systems in standby for all 32-bit Windows environments.
As the first book available on the subject, this book is intended to satisfy the needs of both the advanced and novice KiXtart user.
While the book starts off quite basic, the examples and descriptions of the functions and commands of KiXtart should prove a valuable reference for even the more experienced KiXtart user.

 KiXtart HelpDesk Introduction
Over time, KiXtart grew, both in popularity as well as in functionality.
I recommend reading the manual to get a general overview of KiXtart's capabilities.
Searching the Internet for KiXtart only returned a few sites.

The KiXtart scripting language can save you time and effort when deploying software.
Whether you need to map network drives for groups of users, make registry modifications to multiple machines, or quickly deploy software throughout your organization, login scripts can save you time and effort.
Of course, you will want to choose one with the capabilities that fit your needs, but my favorite by far is KiXtart.

You can place a copy of the later version of the Kixtart® files in c:\mysaNiTy\kwin9x for copying to each workstation or manually create the directory c:\kix and copy in the later version files.
It generates security profiles, drive and printer mappings, desktop and start menu folders, Internet preferences, and much more, and these scripts are called down from the server based on the workgroup a computer is in.

With KiXtart version 4.* you can define your own functions, also called UDF (User Defined Functions).

KiXtart and HKCU settings on Windows 9X clients.
Don't forget that writing to the HKCU area of the registry in Windows 9X is what the original problem really is, so you still need to use the HKLM\...\RunOnce registry key to load HKCU registry imports after Windows 9X initializes.

Both KiXtart.org and ScriptLogic have libraries of User Defined Functions (UDF's) where you can find useful code for your KiXtart programming effort.
A solution is typically more than a script that may use one or more utility programs and custom code to solve a business problem or provide a set of services.
Although KiXtart is mainly used as a logon script processor, the improvement in COM support available in version 4.x gives it great versatility and enhances its ability to perform administrative tasks.
