Perl started out as the "Swiss army knife" of computer languages and was used primarily by system administrators, but over time it's grown into an immensely robust language used by web-developers and programmers worldwide.
It's also a great way to learn programming techniques and develop your own style of coding.

 lj_dev: Apache2 + LJ Mystery
IIRC, I never got the ENV variable to work either.
Any helps with apache2.0 setting perl enivronment variables is still appreciated.
This morning I ran a CVS install of livejournal on my Apache2 server with the intention of learning perl and porting it (I know php enough that it wouldn't be that bad of a shock :))
