Programmer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A programmer or software developer is someone who programs computers, i.e., one who writes computer software.
One who practices or professes a formal approach to programming may also be known as a programmer analyst, software engineer, computer scientist, or software analyst.
The term computer programmer can refer to a specialist in one area of computer programming or to a generalist who writes code for many kinds of software.

 PHP: list - Manual
This is a function simulair to that of 'list' it lists an array with the 'key' as variable name and then those variables contain the value of the key in the array.
There is no way to do reference assignment using the list function, therefore list assignment is will always be a copy assignment (which is of course not always what you want).
One way to use the list function with non-numerical keys is to use the array_values() function

 Real Programmers Don't Use PASCAL
Unfortunately, no Real Programmer would ever use a computer whose operating system is called SmallTalk, and would certainly not talk to the computer with a mouse.
It is a matter of some concern to Real Programmers that the latest generation of computer programmers are not being brought up with the same outlook on life as their elders.
The easiest way to tell a Real Programmer from the crowd is by the programming language he (or she) uses.

Intro to the GRASShopper lists [posted once a month]
The lists work on the principle of "mail exploding" -- a user mails a note to one address, and the computer at that address "explodes" the letter, re-mailing it to everyone who subscribes to the list.
The list will be maintained and stored on CERL computers; however, CERL will not officially monitor the content, intent, or accuracy of any messages that pass through the list.
This address takes the form of grassu-list@moon.cecer.army.mil for the user's list, and grassp-list@moon.cecer.army.mil for the programmer's lists.{1} {footnote1:These, and all other e-mail addresses in this article, are provided in an "Internet-standard" format; different host computers might require different specifications of the address.

Book Reviews - Joel on Software
UI for Programmers is my attempt to teach what I consider the top level, most important principles of UI design that every programmer needs to know.
This book is explicitly NOT for programmers, it's for all those non-programmers who either want to become programmers, or want to understand what programmers do, or just want to explore the weird world of bits and bytes.
For many of these young programmers life outside of work is pretty lonely and empty, which works great for Microsoft, because you put all your energy into the really fun part of the day, developing cool software.
