CSS1 Support in MSIE for Macintosh
Whether this is an error in support for these elements, or MSIE is simply ignoring the pseudo-elements, is difficult to ascertain.
For further information, refer to Microsoft's note describing the fix of this problem in the Win95 version of MSIE (the same information applies to the Mac version now).
The information on this page is intended as reference material for persons authoring pages with style sheets with the intention of making them viewable in Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01.

[Mod_gzip] MSIE cannot handle Vary header(s)
MSIE 4.x will not even cache responses with "Vary: User-Agent".
it is because MSIE decides it MUST cache responses that arrive with "Content-Encoding: gzip" because it MUST have a disk (cache) file to work with in order to do the decompression.
When it is functioning correctly MSIE should do nothing but reload the page from the local cache.

 The Content-type Saga
MSIE sent a different Accept header on "Refresh" and similar operations than it sent on initial retrieval.
RFC2616 warns that the use of this header has serious security implications: for a long time it was customary for HTTP user agents to disregard any such header.
For example, I defined a private content-type for a file that contained XML, and told MSIE to use Mozilla as a helper application for opening that content-type.

 Line of Sight - MSIE
Page rendering was quick, location history was cached better, and I got tired of all the krunk that came along with Netscape; mail clients, etc. Microsoft had to produce a quality browser in order to gain near-universal acceptance as the default browser on our computers.
Whatever shortcomings persist in MSIE, web developers everywhere are forced to create MSIE-compatible pages or be out of work.
This BoxModelHack is an illustrious example of the strain Microsoft places on web developers.

 MSIE 7 Analysis
MSIE 7.0 will only work on Windows XP SP2, so MSFT is leaving much of their users out in the cold.
MSIE 7.0 targeted at Windows XP SP2 users only, will not be provided to Windows 2000 users.
Some of the "premium" features of MSN Explorer, MSN toolbar, may make it's way into MSIE as well as MSFT's Anti-spyware products that they've recently acquired.

It should be noted that while many versions of Netscape will import files using a variety of algorithms MSIE seems to support 40 bit RC2 and triple DES only.

For comparison purposes it is therefore important to use another to fetch the files.

In the case of MSN, however, there is no need to create a special version for Opera.

It is possible to exploit weaknesses in Netscape Navigator 3, Netscape Communicator 4, and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 and 3.01 Java implementations to gain access to information from the client machine which would normally be considered 'secure'.
The four subdirectories, cache1-4, have been marked hidden with the standard file attributes facility, and MSIE has been crippled so you cannot browse them.

However, the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) still does not have full and proper support for the image format, despite the fact that the whitepaper for MSIE 4, which can be read here, promised full support:
The PNG format is a World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) recommendation: Microsoft has repeatedly stated their renewed commitment to web standards, so implementing full PNG support would be the next logical step in fulfilling this promise, especially since it was supposed to be implemented over four years ago.
Full native support for PNG still has not been implemented in the Windows version of MSIE, despite the fact that MSIE for Mac and others browsers have full support, and
