Mosaic (browser) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The licensing terms for NCSA Mosaic were generous for a proprietary software program.
NCSA Mosaic was originally designed and programmed for Unix's X Window System by Marc Andreessen and
University of Illinois and started Mosaic Communications Corporation which became Netscape Communications Corporation, producing Netscape Navigator.

 Browser History: Mosaic
Coverage of what the historical Mosaic versions supported will remain on these pages, as it provides an important benchmark against which other browsers developed.
The early Unix versions of Mosaic, for example, were developed well before most of the other platforms, and Unix/VMS version numbers have differed significantly from other platform counterparts.
The last Beta Release of Mosaic 2 added support for many of the Netscape 1.1 extensions to BODY, HR, and CENTER.

Brief introduction to hypertext - Mosaic browser
You'll never hear it acknowledged by Microsoft or Netscape, but the first really good implementation of tables was done in mosaic for windows in late 1994.
Throughout 1993 and 1994 it grew explosively in popularity as the World Wide Web became well known in the computer world.
By the end of 1996, web browser development was clearly outside the scope of NCSA's research mission, having moved so far into the commercial world.

 Mosaic browser: 10th anniversary
On April 22, 1993, a group of University of Illinois students released a free piece of software to help people retrieve data more easily from computer networks: the first real Web browser.
But Mosaic, the first publicly available graphical browser, changed that.
For all its commercialism and dreck, the Web is still a free-wheeling medium where creativity and innovation count - thanks to the browser.

-=(In Between)=-: MOSAIC Browser is 22 years old
As we all know, it was not until 1995 that Microsoft released their Internet Browser and by making it a part of their Windows Operating system became the dominant player in the land of the browser.
Andreessen and Jim Clark used the code to develop a new browser, Netscape, a product of the newly formed Netscape Communications.

 AraMosaic Documentation
For Other Browsers, currently our ALM or XLANGBOX-ARA X11/Motif library allows users to display ISO 8859-6 HTML pages under Netscape Navigator, but the cursor pointing or selection feature cannot be handled by a solution located only at the X11 level.
The new font downloading markup, allowing the browser to download a TYPE 1 Postscript scalable font by interpreting an image file embedded into a GIF file for example.

 Mother of invention CNET News.com
While Web browsers with graphical interfaces had traded hands among academics years earlier, Mosaic was the first to be widely adopted and introduce the masses to the Internet.
On April 22, 1993, a group of students at the University of Illinois released a piece of computer code designed to get information from various public networks.
Universally taken for granted, Web browsing has changed society forever and created an Information Age generation.

 Browser emulator
Browsers such as Mosaic 0.9, Netscape 1.1, Internet Explorer 2.0, Lynx and the Cern linemode browser are discussed.
Later concepts such as push content, real audio, plug-ins, java applets and flash are also mentioned.

Andreessen is best known for creating the Mosaic browser, which led him to co-found Web pioneer Netscape Communications with Jim Clark in 1994.

 Venera 15/16 Radar Mosaic Browser
Program VeneraView is created for PSPG-00456 CD-WO volume produced by the Science Digital Data Preservation Task.
The Venera data consists of 27 images (quads) covering the latitude range of 25 degrees north to the north pole; however, two quads, the 8th and 9th, are not included because they were not available at the time the CD was produced.
This data set contains radar image mosaics of the surface of Venus obtained by the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) on the Venera 15 and 16 spacecraft.

 port-arm32: Mosaic browser library
I discovered that it (apparently) does not deal with tables.
However, Gnome does not, the X server locks up part way through initialisation.
I have tried forcing a re-install on Mosaic and a few other packages to see if they would re-register, but to no avail.

 Untitled Document
Artisans create Mosaic Art using a style referred to as pique assiette.
Pique assiette, literally translated, means “stolen plate.” This creative technique uses various types of china which are broken, and the fragmented pieces are then painstakingly shaped into unique, one of a kind, collectible works of art.

 Mosaic Web/Gopher Browser
I have updated Mosaic so it will compile on a modern Linux system.
If you are going to run a ten year old protocol, you might as well use a ten year old browser.
Somehow, it just feels more friendly than modern browsers.
