 Mozilla - Open Encyclopedia
To distinguish it from other Mozilla projects like Firefox the core Mozilla package is now commonly being marketed by the Mozilla Foundation as 'the Mozilla Suite' while being known as Seamonkey by its developers.
The Mozilla 1.0 release on June 5, 2002 was even praised for introducing new features that Internet Explorer lacked, including better support for user privacy preferences and some interface improvements.
The Mozilla Foundation also hosts a number of projects not directly related to the Mozilla browser or its development, including several initiatives abandoned by Netscape which have been declared open source.

Moztips - What is Mozilla? About the Open Source Browser, Email Program and Composer
Mozilla is a modern and flexible open source browser, and forms the basis for Netscape 6 and other browsers.
And because all Mozilla versions use the same document object model (DOM), regardless of the operating system (OS) it is running on, web developers do not have rewrite their pages for different OS versions of the same browser.
All versions of Mozilla are released simultaneously; that means that Mac users do not have to wait longer than Windows users for a modern, usable browser.

Asa Dotzler - Firefox and more: mozilla product futures
However, the Mozilla Suite is on all of the computers at my office and all of the computers at my house.
Mozilla was better than IE, so of course, even the early betas of Firefox were also better than IE, but Firefox still has a whole lot of growing up to do before it can truly compete with the Mozilla Suite.
This change, from a Mozilla product, to a community-driven project (with minimal or no involvement from drivers@mozilla.org,) and the fact that the Mozilla Foundation and drivers@mozilla.org plan to continue security-related development and support for the Mozilla 1.7 product necessitates that we have a new name and versioning for the new community-supported project.

Although Composer was one of the earliest mass market applications for Web authoring and survives as a component of the free download Netscape 7, it has fallen by the wayside as Microsoft FrontPage has taken over the low end of the market for Web authoring tools and Macromedia Dreamweaver has dominated the high end.
Three other Mozilla components--the date book, Calendar; the instant messenger, Chatzilla; and Composer--were put on the back burner, albeit with assurances that they wouldn't be going the way of Collabra and Netcaster, other applications once bundled with Netscape under the Communicator suite that no longer exist under Mozilla.

How to Design and Publish Your Website with Mozilla Composer (thesitewizard.com)
Ever since I wrote my review of Mozilla Composer, I have been receiving requests from beginning webmasters to thesitewizard.com for a tutorial on how they can get started with designing and publishing their website using that free WYSIWYG web editor.
There are actually shortcuts to starting Composer from Mozilla (as there are for many of the commands given in this tutorial), but I will leave the discovery of minor things like that to you and concentrate on the main task of creating a web page.
This field is required because Mozilla Composer will use this information to form links on your site.

Daniel Glazman Outlines Future of Mozilla Composer - MozillaZine Talkback
In terms of composer generally - it has always seemed to be a bit buggy and slow to me - though not as bad as it used to be.
I was under the impression that the reason was included in Mozilla in the first place was not simply because it had been in Netscape 4 and so it is in Mozilla.
The bits of Composer (the UI, for example) that aren't part of that Gecko core will live in a separate app, instead of being an extension on top of Firebird (which would be more like the current situation, where of course browser, mail and composer are all part of the same big app)
