OpenPsion - Linux for Psion Computers
Psion 5MX development continues in a fragmented fashion - various folks have various approaches to linux on the 5MX.
There have also been moves to merge this project with the openembedded project, which would be a good idea.
Some systems support compactflash memory, so that the whole system is less volatile, use of the initrd.gz filesystem is avoided, more complete linux filesystems can be built, and all of the memory of the Psion can be used as system memory.

 The Psionics Files

 JBSoft Home Page
If Psion had created another machine nothing currently available would have worked on it anyway without (in the case of OPL programs) a lot of work and total rebuild of the program.
There are also some links to some other Psion sites available although, for other programmers, there is just a link to the 3-Lib site where a comprehensive list is maintained.
As Psion have now announced they will not manufacture any new machines for the personal market, there will probably not be any new software on this site in the foreseeable future.

Compiling Java on your Psion 5mx
You will need to copy the zip file containing the classes to /system/java/ext, you will have to create the sub-directory ext, this is where the Psion looks for it's extension zips.
It assumes that you know how to copy files to and from our Psion from you PC and that you know what you are doing with, or at least the basics of Java.
The reason why you need to do this is because some of the basic classes in the standard classes.zip are in fact pre-loaded with Psion's JVM.

 FTP Server for Psion
There are some problems while using this program on localized versions of Psions.
In order to find a workaround for the above mentioned problems I programmed a small utility which provides a standard user interface, manages a network connection of Psion and controls the behavior of buggy server process.
This solution would make it possible to use any available FTP-client or WEB-browser which always can be found at any workstation to access data located on your PDA.
