 Corrections To The RNGC:6
The 1975 RNGC position should to be changed to 23 27 39 +17 10 19 and the data switched to describe U12620.
The RNGC entries for both N7644 and N7651 refer to the components of this system.
The RNGC coordinates should be changed to 15h 05.9m +63 05' (1975), dimensions 0.8'x0.7', magnitude 14.3B and the notes column should indicate the equivalency with IC 1100.

For more extensive descriptions of the data in the RNGC and an explanation of the procedures used to develop or derive them, the published catalogue reference below should be consulted since it contains an extensive introduction with a wealth of valuable information.
New object descriptions are provided for objects which were examined during the course of the work, Galactic coordinates are given, and new magnitudes are reported along with their sources.
Certain codes have been modified from the original computerized version and the published version in order to change them back to what they should be in astronomical notation.

 Corrections To The RNGC:1
In this position on the POSS is a 14-15th magnitude star with GSC position 01 10 51.1 +33 09 05 (2000) that almost certainly is Schultz's object.
There is no object at the NGC position for N3889 but 3.7' northeast of N3888 is located the faint galaxy M+09-19-191 which was visible in my 17.5" scope and is a reasonable match in position and brightness.
This places some ambiguity on the identity of N4562 and this may have lead to the additional catalogue designation.

UNIVERSE - Journal of The Astronomical Society of New South Wales Inc.
The RNGC was produced in 1973 and was the first attempt to update Dreyer's NGC with modern positions and data.
The RNGC authors used the Digitized Sky Survey (DSS) to verify the existence of the NGC entries and listed NGC 2163 as nonexistent because they could not find any object on the DSS at Dreyer's original coordinates.
NGC 2000.0, which appeared in 1988, improved on the RNGC by incorporating Dreyer's corrections and listed NGC 2163 at the correct position, but still classified it as unidentified.

 RNGC
The SAC database is based on the RNGC which has hundreds of objects listed as "non-existent in RNGC" but identified as a real object by the NGC/IC project.
I see there is a new external catalog of IC objects based on the NGC/IC project.
Is there a chance of using the NGC/IC project database for these objects in Skymap Pro 7?

This decision has been practically regarded as the thought of Kremlin because the RNGC possesses the plenary power of adjusting every energy-related development program in Russia instead of the government.
At an interview with Russian daily Komersant, employees from BP-TNK, which leads the Irkutsk Gas Field development program, stated that “We can accept the Nakhodka line if it has economic value.” That is, the possibility that the development program, which Korea, Russia, and China have already finished inspections for, may be repealed has increased.
Some experts pointed out that because energy importation is accomplished based on mid and long term planning, an alternative plan should come out in order to prepare for the cancellation of Irkutsk Gas Field Development Plan.

 Astronomical ComputingEdited by Stuart J
The position of this object in the RNGC (red cross) is 10 arc-minutes off.
The positions don't match the sky because the input catalogs do not list objects with arc-second accuracy.
Furthermore, an ultraprecise "center" is superfluous for logging the position of a diffuse nebula or open star cluster. As amateur astronomers probe deeper into the night, they need maps showing not only the stars in the right place, but deep-sky objects as well.

Reinmuth identifies a faint knot at the NE edge as N930; "eF, vS, R, vgvvlbM; 0.6' nf att NGC 932." Listed in RNGC Corrections #4.
The RNGC mixes up the identifications and lists the main galaxy as N930 and calls N932 non-existent.Since Herschel was definitely the first to observe this galaxy, his number N932 should apply and the data listed in the RNGC under N930 should be transferred to N932.
The gx is identified as N930 = N932 in the UGC and CGCG.

Canberra Astronomical Society - Southern Cross - May 2003
They were so named when the RNGC authors could not find star clusters at the positions given in the original New General Catalogue (NGC) by Dreyer of 1888.
However, since the RNGC was published, it has been found that many of these star clusters really do exist.
Conclusion: NGC 2995 may exist as the star group described above, matching quite well with JH's position and description.

Webb Society Home Page - Monograph No. 1
The RNGC in particular lists a relatively large number of the star clusters listed in the NGC as nonexistent (or "type 7") objects and contains errors related to several other clusters or asterisms.
The catalog contains corrected and expanded information from the RNGC, while the notes include all known modern observations (except in the case of now well known objects), and many historical observations.
A number of objects cataloged in the NGC [Dreyer, 1888] and RNGC [Sulentic and Tifft, 1973] have been misidentified or have not been located since their discovery in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Harold Corwin also suggests that NGC 3186 may be the northeastern component of CGCG 36-074.
His position is 10 17 18 +07 03 (2000) which is 20 tsec W and 5' N of MCG +01-26-032 = CGCG 36-085 (the galaxy identified as N3186 in RNGC and PGC).
This galaxy is identified as N3186 in the RNGC and PGC and the identification is uncertain due to a poor position from Albert Marth.

 Messier 102
Thus we can also exclude Dreyer's assumption that iota Draconis was a mistake for iota Serpentis, since there's no sufficiently bright object in that region of the sky, and are left with the possibility proposed by Smyth, that omicron Bootis was mistaken for theta Bootis.
The other possibility would be, according to J.L.E. Dreyer in Notes and Corrections to the NGC, that iota Draconis was mistaken for iota Serpentis; then M102 would be situated near the position of the faint galaxy NGC 5928, at RA 15h23.9m, Dec +18d15' (1950).
However, Dreyer's proposition of NGC 5928 can be waived with great certainty for the obvious reason that it is only a 14th mag galaxy, according to the RNGC [4], so that both Mechain and Messier could hardly have seen it with their instrumentation, even under exceptionally good conditions.
