 Request for Comments: Just the facts...
Every RFC is available as ASCII ((computer science) a code for information exchange between computers made by different companies; a string of 7 binary digits represents each character; used in most microcomputers) text and may be available in other formats, depending on the author.
This standard specifies a syntax for text messages that are sent between computer users, within the framework of electronic mail ((computer science) a system of world-wide electronic communication in which a computer user can compose a message at one terminal that is generated at the recipient's terminal when he logs in) messages.
Once published and issued a number, an RFC is never canceled or depublished; it is instead superseded by the publication of a new one.
