Resource Description Framework - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
RDF queries can be used by knowledge management applications as a basis for inference actions.
RDF query languages allow expressions to be written that can be evaluated against a collection of statements in order to produce, for example, a narrowed set of statements, resources, or object values, or to perform comparisons and operations on such items.
The purpose of RDF is to provide an encoding and interpretation mechanism so that resources can be described in a way that particular software can understand it, or, better put, so that software can more easily access data organized within structured parameters.

In particular, metadata about the computational features of a component (such as its inputs and outputs and their associated types, execution times on benchmark problems, and implementation language) can be asserted using RDF.
Such assertions can be used by RDF-aware search engines to discover a component or a collection of components that could solve a problem faced by a user.
This syntax provides a general language that can be used to make assertions about Web sites.
