Computer-coding the IPA: a proposed extension of SAMPA
Diacritics (other than those already catered for in SAMPA) are mapped onto a keystroke with a preceding underscore, _.
In the first is a phonetic label (since this is a simple ASCII file, I don't show IPA symbols); in the second is the proposed coding, which we can refer to as X-SAMPA (extended SAMPA).

 Spelling Reform
I have no idea how Gus pronounces it, and would be interested in seeing the SAMPA for it (showing again how SAMPA is useful when other schemes are not).
Associated with the coding (mapping) are guidelines for the transcription of the languages to which SAMPA has been applied.
The SAMPA transcription symbols have been developed by or in consultation with native speakers of every language to which they have been applied, but are standardized internationally.

 X-SAMPA - KutjaraWiki
X-SAMPA is a phonetic script used to represent speech, that uses only 7-bit ASCII characters, so that it can be typed in any computer keyboard.
The people of ZBB have developed Z-SAMPA, an extension to X-SAMPA that represents some characters neglected by IPA (such as those that may not exist in natural languages).
It was developed in 1995 by John C. Wells, based on a previous code called SAMPA (Speech Assessment Methods Phonetic Alphabet), developed by a European group.

Kirshenbaum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This chart is based off information provided in the Kirshenbaum specification.
Like the more common SAMPA, the system uses lower-case letters to represent the directly corresponding IPA character.
[1], [2] It may also be helpful to compare it to the SAMPA chart or X-SAMPA chart.

Which languages (apart from English) don't have the /kh/ sound? (page 4) Antimoon Forum
One thing though is that X-SAMPA, SAMPA, and Kirshenbaum're definitely better than the horrid "ASCIIbet" crap that I see used sometimes around here (which is annoying, because it's not like used anywhere outside of this site, to my knowledge).
Yeah, X-sampa and Sampa are better than the horrid ''ASCIIbet'', because X-sampa contains all the phonemes in every dialect of the whole English speaking world and even foreign phonemes, while ''ASCIIbet'' doesn't even include all of the phonemes in English.
I think that would be [p\] in SAMPA.
