Topic: Session Description Protocol

RFC 2327 - SDP: Session Description Protocol. M. Handley, V. Jacobson.
It is normally considered INAPPROPRIATE for software parsing a session description to start, on a user's system, software that is appropriate to participate in multimedia sessions, without the user first being informed that such software will be started and giving their consent.
SDP is primarily intended for use in an internetwork, although it is sufficiently general that it can describe conferences in other network environments.
Software that parses a session description MUST not be able to start other software except that which is specifically configured as appropriate software to participate in multimedia sessions.

 Session Description Protocol (SDP) files
For live streaming, SDP files are created on the capture-and-encoding computer by the broadcast software.
However, if you change anything about the media you're streaming, you must delete the SDP file, let the broadcast software create a new SDP file, then copy this new SDP file to the media directory on your streaming server.

Session Description Protocol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It has been published by the IETF as RFC 2327.
SDP, or Session Description Protocol, is a format for describing streaming media initialization parameters.
SDP started off as a component of the Session Announcement Protocol (SAP), but found other uses in conjunction with RTSP, SIP and just as a standalone format for describing multicast sessions.

 1. Background: The Session Description Protocol (SDP)
SDP can be delivered through different transport protocols including the Session Announcement Protocol (SAP) [2], the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) [3], the Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) [4], the electronic mail using the MIME extensions, and the Hypertext Transport Protocol.
In general is either a number of fields delimited by a single space character or a free format string.
An SDP session description consists of a number of lines of text of the form =.

SDP (Session Description Protocol) (Linktionary term)
SDP is a protocol that describes a format for conveying descriptive information about multimedia sessions.
At the same time, SDP was designed for general-purpose use so that it could be used for a wide range of network applications.
SDP is not a transport protocol, but relies instead on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) or SAP (Session Announcement Protocol) to deliver the session information to destinations.
