The way forward with Web Standards Kit maccaws.org
Web standards are designed to be extended and added to and to work together with future growth in mind.
Experienced Web authors who are not used to coding to standards may require some time to become accustomed to new habits and paradigms.
The Web grew very fast and very fierce, as a result, many books and design courses were based on outdated and incorrect Web practices in order to cash in on the growth of the Web.

Using Web Standards in Your Web Pages
Every proposed web standards replacement in this article has been tested, verified and is working without a problem in modern browsers like MSIE 6, Netscape 7+, Firefox 1.x, Opera 7+, Safari 1.2+, Konqueror 3.x, etc. The final section, Summary of Changes, outlines all the changes described in this article.

 Web Standards Switch - QA @ W3C
This standard defines the use of the mark-up of your text, similar to the correct grammar of a language.
Large or small, your Website has to be initially evaluated against the standards; there is probably a sizable number of pages which do not meet the criteria you have established for the quality of your Web site.
A valid Web page is a page which respects this grammar, like an essay that has no spelling or grammatical mistakes.

 National Science Education Standards
They describe an educational system in which all students demonstrate high levels of performance, in which teachers are empowered to make the decisions essential for effective learning, in which interlocking communities of teachers and students are focused on learning science, and in which supportive educational programs and systems nurture achievement.
Policy makers might want to read the system and program standards first, while faculty of higher education might want to read the professional development and teaching standards first, before turning to the remaining standards.
The professional development standards present a vision for the development of professional knowledge and skill among teachers.

The NBPTS Standards codify the knowledge base of the accomplished teacher and draw attention to the many factors that contribute to accomplished practice.

Why Not Web Standards? : D. Keith Robinson's Asterisk
Most web designers are hired because someone “knows a computer person”, and the business owner, not knowing any better, blindly accepts that person for a web professional and hires them to do their site.
One of the issues with standards, however, is that they’re supposed to be, for lack of a better phrase, “beyond time.” A standards-compliant site should look almost exactly the same in a decade or two.
If, for example, these pages had been coded with Web standards I’d have a much easier time of it when it comes to making changes, or updating for usability or any of countless other reasons why I’d want to work with them.
