Gtk+ WebCore is in early alpha state, where almost all of the features of rendering engine are ported.
Gtk+ WebCore is looking for contributors to bring Gtk+ port of WebCore in sync with WebKit, and eventually be integral part of the project.
Project is released, because it has reached a level where it can be tested, used in own projects and in other ways evaluated.

 Nokia Research Center releases Alpha Version of Linux/Gtk+ port of WebCore/KHTML FootNotes
This is port is based on Apple Computer, Inc. WebCore, which provides a lean rendering engine and an open source alternative to Qt-based khtml rendering engine.
One motivation for this release is also that gnome-webkit project could benefit from our work and our hope is that they find Gtk+ WebCore project useful (see http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-webkit/ for more information).

WebCore is basically a software component, not an application.
All you have to do to take advantage of a new version of WebCore is to link in the new framework when it becomes available.
I think.) Of course, thanks to the way packages and frameworks work on OS X, anybody who wants to build their own version of WebCore or JavaScriptCore and ship it with their application is free do to so.

Omni has added features, fixed bugs, and performed optimizations on WebCore which would not otherwise be available if we used Web Kit.
But the current version of OmniWeb &; version 4.5 — also uses WebCore, and it’s an also-ran browser.
We considered using Web Kit, but decided not to since it would mean that OmniWeb would lose its distinct nutty flavor.

WebCore’s Project Builder file isn’t configured to look for frameworks in your home directory, so if you put JavaScriptCore.framework there, WebCore will fail to build.
The regular Safari, which will work as always with the default WebCore and JavaScriptCore frameworks; and “Safari without WebCore,” which will use whatever WebCore and JavaScriptCore frameworks it can find.
You can do this with environment variables, but there’s an easier way.

There is even a joint meeting in IRC where KHTML and Apple WebCore developers discuss how they could better exchange ideas and code.
As well, he also notes that certain changes are webcore only - so KHTML developers would have a hard time implementing the changes.
Apple/Safari/WebCore programmers create their own wrapper around KHTML (bear in mind two things here: first, they do not use Qt like KDE does; and second, Mac OS X's GUI is not based on X11, like KDE's is, but of their own proprietary Core Graphics engine...).

I thought you just grabbed shadow code from WebCore and it seems this is truly wrong.
The advantage of the reimplementation though is that we can apply any number of shadows like the standard requires, while Safari can only apply the one OS X supports.

The S60 browser (which doesn't have a codename or a formal name) is based on Apple's WebCore technology which itself is based on KDE's KHTML engine.
They told us that the Nokia team chose WebCore over Mozilla's Gecko for the exact same reason Apple chose KHTML over Gecko: much smaller in codesize, smaller cpu/memory needs and as Mr Carson pointed out "it was much easier to read the source code and understand it".

DrawTest nightlies stopped mid November, and will remain so until we finish porting DrawTest from DrawView onto WebView (5333).
DrawTest actualy broke back on Nov. 3rd, 2005 when I finally moved KSVG2 off of kdom and onto WebCore's DOM for real.

Remember that Darwin and Webcore are open source projects.
(I also falsely assumed that the WebCore test suite was distributed with the binary release, which it on later inspection proved not to be).
The page in question that had made it on to the Apple web site, was a chopped-off version of the rounded corners tutorial, incorporated into the WebCore layout tests for generated content, most likely since earlier versions of Safari exhibited some very funky rendering (screenshot).

 Next Generation KDE Technologies Ported to WebCore
With Apple including the technology into WebCore, this means that several Safari engineers will be now be working full-time with KDOM/KSVG2/KCanvas.
Given that Apple has recently improved the accessibility of WebCore development to KDE hackers by moving it to an open bug tracking system and a publicly viewable CVS server, this is good news for KHTML hackers.
After successfully using KHTML and KJS as cornerstone technologies to build their much praised Safari web browser, Apple engineers have now made the first steps to adopt the next generation of KDE's web technology into their WebCore rendering engine.
