CPUs and support chips, including the Z80,000) and some of the computer systems that were built with it:
Z8000 Software sub-page (containing both direct-code software as well as cross-assemblers and cross-compilers for high-level languages like ANSI-C, Pascal etc.)
Goal of this site : To collect all available resources (documentation, software etc.) on the Z8000 series and some of the computer systems that were built with it

 Information on Zilog Z8000
From The Free On-line Dictionary of Computing (27 SEP 03) :
A microprocessor from Zilog introduced not long after the Intel 8086, but with superior features.
There was a later 32-bit, pipelined version, the Zilog Z80000.

 Microprocessor
These processors are the precursors to the very successful Intel 8080, Zilog Z80, and derivative Intel 8-bit processors.
Examples of other 16-bit microprocessor families include the Motorola 68000, used in early Apple Macintosh computers; and the Zilog Z8000.
Following up their 8086 and 8088, Intel released the 32-bit 80386 in 1985, cementing Intel's PC dominance with its processor family's backwards compatibility.

 microsoft's timeline from 1975 - 1998
All of Microsoft's existing system software (COBOL, PASCAL, BASIC and DBMS) will be adapted to run under the XENIX system, and all existing software written for UNIX OS will be compatible as well.
It is an interactive, multi-user, multi-tasking system that will run on Intel 8086, Zilog Z8000, Motorola M68000, and DEC PDP-11 series.

Zilog Z8000 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Zilog Z80000 was a 32-bit follow-on design.
DRAM refresh circuitry, but although an attractive feature for designers of the time, overall the Z8000 was not especially fast and had some bugs, and in the end it was overshadowed by the x86 family.
Somewhat inexplicably, the Z8000 survives today in the shape of the Z16C01/02 serial communication controllers, and an active order code and datasheet may still be located upon the ZiLOG website.

Toggit Certification Home for MCSE CCNA A+ study guides and test prep
A version of Unix developed from ATandT Version 7 as a joint venture between Microsoft and Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) and released in 1980.
XENIX was intended to support commercial applications on the IBM PC—versions were also developed for the Motorola 68000 and Zilog Z8000 processors—and for a while XENIX was the most successful Unix in terms of sheer numbers sold.
Microsoft sold its interest in XENIX to SCO in 1987.
