 Integrated Circuit Development
Once the simulated results have been verified, the tools are used to develop additional integrated circuits, with a much greater chance of first pass success than would be the case without any ability to predict the outcome of the design process.
Integrated circuit technologies based on silicon and variants of silicon have also made remarkable progress during the past decade; we have worked with these silicon-based technologies as well.
Figure IC-4 shows measured results from digital integrated circuits designed in our laboratory and fabricated for us by HRL Laboratories in one of the earlier versions of their InP HBT process, showing correct operation of this circuit at clock rates of 27 GHz.

 LEON RADOMSKY
The development and optimization of these processes may be a well-guarded trade secret of the original integrated circuit manufacturer.
For example, a MOSFET containing integrated circuit has a substrate level topography, a gate level topography, and plural upper level metal interconnection level topographies.
Before examining the nature of sui generis protection required for integrated circuits, it is important to first understand integrated circuit manufacturing and patenting processes in the semiconductor industry.

Remote plotting of integrated circuit layout in a network computer-aided design system - Patent 5128878
Client workstations are programmed to create plot requests from data created in a computer aided integrated circuit design and layout application.
Accordingly, a need remains for an improved method and system for rasterizing, spooling and plotting graphical hardcopy of integrated circuit designs captured on client workstations which would allow the user to continue other tasks while the time and resource consuming processes of rasterization and hardcopy plotting run uninterrupted.
The rasterization software is that portion of the integrated circuit ECAD system which translates circuit design data to a format for plotting to paper or vellum on a plotting device.

 OPRX at SPIE Micro95: Hierarchy
If functional hierarchy could be maintained during a layout data modification process, the size of the output data would be reduced.
The hierarchy manager reduces by orders of magnitude the amount of computation which must be performed for most designs.
Moreover, the time to perform the layout data modification would be reduced, since it is determined by the amount of data in the cell definitions, not by the number of cell references.
